Sight First: Lions Club International is world famous for sponsoring many programs to help people with vision problems. Whether it be the need for corrective lenses, medications or even surgery, the Lions have provided the materials and the money to help. Lions also support the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank and the Lions Eye Health Program.
Recycling: A form of recycling occurs as we collect old eyeglasses to benefit those in need as part of the Sight First program. The PV Lions Club also manages a recycling center located next to the POA offices. You can drop off your paper, plastic, aluminum cans, tin cans and glass and do your part for the environment. We also have a receptacle at the POA Club Room to collect old cell phones and printer cartridges for recycling as part of a joint effort with the Lago Vista Lions.
Community Cleanup: Five or six times during the year, Lions get together to clean up trash and debris along the roadways of the area. In addition to improving the view, you will get to know some of your fellow Lions a little better.
4th of July: Lions can cook too! The Point Venture 4th of July celebration is a great time for our Lions to cook and serve hot dogs and all the trimmings to their neighbors. The grill work generates a lot of goodwill for our community. PV Lions also assist with many other events surrounding the parade and celebration.
Lions Camp: Once a year the PVLC sends a group to Kerrville, Texas to join other Lions Clubs in getting the camp ready for a new season of campers. The Lions Camp is host to a number of groups of children with physical disabilities each year.
PVLC Golf Tournament: Our annual golf tournament has raised thousands of dollars for charity. Each year we invite local businesses to sponsor each hole and local golfers to pay for the privilege of playing on the beautiful Point Venture Golf Course. Prizes are awarded, lunch is provided and a bag full of goodies goes to every golfer. Sponsors are honored for their contributions with signs and media recognition. All of our Lions contribute their efforts to making this a huge success.
Christmas in the Village: Some of our members volunteer to decorate their homes and then open them to a tour. The decorating themes run from Victorian to Southwestern to Traditional. And somehow the hosting members manage to make the atmosphere of their homes elegant and warm while capturing the spirit of the season. Each home has a team of Lions hosts, while other Lions drive the guests from home to home. Refreshments are served in between the OOOHS and AAAHS. The generous proceeds from the tour go to Lions International Campaign Sight First II.
House Number Painting:PV Lions will be painting house numbers on the apron curb portion of the street to one side of the driveway. Proceeds will go to one of our charities.
PV POA Garage Sale : PV Lions sponsor a booth and solicit donated items to sell (May). Proceeds go to charity.
PV Neighborhood Pot Luck Supper: Our Lions coordinate the monthly pot luck by preparing the Club Room service area, preparing coffee and tea and then cleaning up when the dinner is over.
