Recycling: A form of recycling occurs as Lions collect old eyeglasses to benefit those in need of glasses. The PV Lions Club also manage a recycling center located next to the water tower. You can drop off your paper, plastic, aluminum cans, tin cans and glass and do your part for the environment. We also have a receptacle at the POA Club Room to collect old cell phones and printer cartridges for recycling as part of a joint effort with the Lago Vista Lions.
Community Cleanup: Five or six times during the year, Lions get together to clean up trash and debris along the roadways of the area. In addition to improving the view, you will get to know some of your fellow Lions a little better.
4th of July: Lions can cook too! The Point Venture 4th of July celebration is a great time for our Lions to cook and serve hot dogs and all the trimmings to their neighbors. The grill work generates a lot of goodwill for our community. PV Lions also assist with many other events surrounding the parade and celebration.
Lions Camp: In the Spring, the PV Lions Club send a group of volunteers to Kerrville, Texas to join other Lions Clubs in getting the camp ready for a new season of campers. We also assist in serving snacks or watermelons to the children during the summer camping season. The Lions Camp is host to a number of groups of children with physical disabilities each year.
PVLC Golf Tournament: Our annual golf tournament raises thousands of dollars for charity. Each year we invite local businesses to sponsor each hole and local golfers to pay for the privilege of playing on the beautiful Point Venture Golf Course. Prizes are awarded, lunch is provided and a bag full of goodies goes to every golfer. Sponsors are honored for their contributions with signs and media recognition. All of our Lions contribute their efforts to making this a huge success. The 2009 PV Lions Club Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 4th at the Point Venture Golf Course.
Christmas in the Village: Every other year, some Lions and some residents volunteer to decorate their homes and then open them to a tour. The decorating themes run from Victorian to Southwestern to Traditional. And somehow the hosting members manage to make the atmosphere of their homes elegant and warm while capturing the spirit of the season. Each home has a team of Lions hosts, while other Lions drive the guests from home to home. Refreshments are served in between the OOOHS and AAAHS. Proceeds from the tour go to fund scholarships for Lago Vista High School seniors and other charities of interest to the Lions Club.
House Number Painting:To enhance public safety, PV Lion periodically paint house numbers on the apron curb portion of the street to one side of the driveway. Any donations go to one of our designated charities.
Samaritan Health Ministries Diabetic Eye Screening: Our Lions Club pay to have low income, diabetic North Shore residents have their eyes screened for damage caused by diabetes.
Blood Drive:In conjunction with the Lago Vista Lions Club, our Lions assist the Bloodmobile located at CVS Pharmacy in collecting blood from North Shore residents about six times a year.
PV Neighborhood Pot Luck Supper: Our Lions coordinate the monthly pot luck by preparing the Club Room service area, preparing coffee and tea and then cleaning up when the dinner is over.
